16:00 — 17:45

By Rahbeks Højskoles ungeforum, AGORA

Rahbek’s youth forum, AGORA, meets on 15/4 at Vartov at 16.00 – 17.45 and subsequently has the opportunity to participate in the democracy salons at 18.00 – 21.00.

Rafael del Riego was a Spanish officer and freedom hero who became a symbol of the struggle for the constitution, civil rights and resistance to autocracy. His name is especially linked to the uprising of 1820, which made him an enduring icon of freedom and liberalism in Spain.

Rahbek’s Folk High School invites you to the fourth round of our biannual salon series on the history of democracy. The salons, which are held in Vartov’s Great Hall, are arranged in collaboration with Grundtvigsk Forum, historian Hans Erik Havsteen (known from the history podcast “The King’s Row”), renowned history communicators and skilled democracy thinkers. Each of the salons on the history of democracy will contain inspiring presentations on the most important events in the history of democracy, enlightening debate on the ideas and ideals of democracy, joint dinner and social mingling. Doors open at 5.30 pm.

The Salon 15/4 deals with, among other things, how the great year of European revolution founded modern democracy across the continent – and in this connection we delve into the constitutional struggle in Denmark.
