On 9 May 2026, we celebrate Europe Day, an opportunity to renew our commitment to peace, democracy and unity among the peoples of Europe. This symbolic date is reminiscent of the Schuman Declaration of 1950, in which the foundations were laid for a new form of political cooperation, capable of making a conflict between European nations unthinkable. Since then, every year, the institutions of the Union open their doors to citizens and promote moments of meeting, discussion and participation throughout Europe.

Also for the 2026 edition, #DiCultHer, together with institutional and cultural partners, promotes a day dedicated to reflection on the future of our Common Home, with particular attention to the role of the younger generations in the era of Artificial Intelligence.

The central moment of the initiative will be the presentation of the new “Digital Ventotene Manifesto in the Age of AI”, the result of a participatory process involving students through a #HackCultura2026 CHALLENGE:  “Owners of Europe in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”
A guiding question accompanies the path:
How can AI make the new generations more aware, protagonists and owners of the future of Europe, starting from their cultural heritage and the founding values of the Union?

Participants will be invited to:

• reinterpreting the values of solidarity, justice, democracy and freedom in the light of the algorithmic era;
• tell how AI can enhance their role in the protection and enhancement of tangible, intangible and digital heritage;
• propose future visions of Europe based on interculturality, inclusion and sustainability.

 Expected output:
An original digital work, documented in its conception, production and impact phases, inspired by the principles of participation, responsibility, creativity and conscious use of AI.

Program of the Day of May 9 (to be defined)

Morning

•  Official presentation of the new Ventotene Digital Manifesto in the age of AI
  An opportunity to share the participatory path and the reformulated principles of the Manifesto, in the light of the contemporary challenges of digital Europe.

Afternoon

•  European Dialogues for Cultural
  Citizenship Comparison between cultural and design experiences inspired by the Faro Convention, reinterpreted in the digital ecosystem. The best projects developed by schools as part of the #HackCultura2026 Challenges dedicated to Europe will be presented, testifying to a Europe lived, imagined, co-created by the new generations.
