Europe: the great tale of writers
On the initiative of journalist and writer Olivier Guez, twenty-seven writers from all the Member States of the European Union take the floor in “Le Grand Tour” to evoke a place emblematic of European culture. A self-portrait of Europe by its writers. By coordinating the book “Le grand Tour. Self-portrait of Europe by its writers” (Grasset, 2022), Olivier Guez makes a plea for a Europe united by culture. By updating the Grand Tour method, it interviews twenty-seven writers, one per Member State, to write about a place evocative of European culture and history. Each writer then takes it in turn to draw a portrait of their Europe through a place. Olivier Guez, himself European, sketches a moving map of the European spirit from the early 1920s to the 21st century.
