Drawing contest “Paint Europe”
The Balearic Islands Europe Foundation, attached to the General Directorate of Institutional Relations and Relations with the Parliament, of the Vice-Presidency of the Segona and Ministry of the Presidency, Coordination of Government Action and Local Cooperation, on the occasion of the celebration of Europe Day, launches a drawing contest entitled “Paint Europe”.
This year. the contest is aimed at all 5th grade students of schools in the Balearic Islands.
The competition is open from the dissemination of these rules.
PARTICIPANTS
Students in the fifth year of primary education in all schools in the Balearic Islands.
Each student may submit a maximum of one drawing to the competition.
PARTICIPATING DRAWINGS
Drawings must be original (stencils cannot be used).
They can be made with any technique (watercolour, pencil, wax, etc.) on paper or cardboard, with a maximum size of one sheet (DIN A4) in horizontal format and without any visible annotation.
TOPIC
The theme of the drawing should represent the students’ vision of the European Union.
PRESENTATION
The deadline for submitting drawings will end on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
Participating schools must submit their students’ drawings by email to edillesbalears@gmail.com indicating the name of the school and the contact person’s details.
It must be attached to the email:
a) A single PDF file with all the participating drawings, without the name or any inscription, signature or element that allows the author to be identified.
b) A separate list with the full name of all participants, in the same order in which the drawings appear in the PDF file.
Participation in the competition entails express authorisation for the dissemination of images and/or photographs of the winners, despite being minors, and their drawings, through the press or other media, with the sole intention of promoting the European Union.
JURY
The jury will meet during the week of April 27 and will consist of 7 members:
- A representative of the Balearic Islands Europe Foundation.
- A representative of Europe Direct Illes Balears
- A representative of the School Council of Mallorca.
- A representative of the School Council of Menorca.
- A representative of the Consell Escolar Insular d’Eivissa.
- A representative of the Formentera School Council.
- A representative of the Government of the Balearic Islands.
CATEGORIES
The selected drawings will illustrate the “Paint Europe” calendar for the year 2027.
3 drawings will be selected for each island (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera) in three categories (first prize, second prize and third prize).
In addition, a special “Balearic Islands” prize will be awarded among all the works presented. The winning work of this special prize will illustrate the cover of the calendar.
AWARDS
- 1st prize for each island: Diploma of participation and educational material for a maximum value of €180.
- 2nd prize for each island: Diploma of participation and educational material for a maximum value of €150.
- 3rd prize for each island: Diploma of participation and educational material for a maximum value of € 120.
- Balearic Islands Special Prize: Cover of the calendar, diploma of participation and educational material for a maximum value of € 210.
The decision of the jury will be final.
On May 9, the winning drawings will be made public. This information will be disseminated through the website of the Ministry of Presidency and Public Administration and the website of Europe Direct Balearic Islands and will be notified by email to the centres that have been awarded and to the students.
The winning students will receive a diploma stating both their participation in the contest and the prize won.
AWARDS CEREMONY
In a subsequent communication, the winners will be informed of the date of the public ceremony in which the prizes will be awarded.
THE DRAWINGS
The winning drawings will remain the property of the Fundació Illes Balears Europa and Europe Direct Illes Balears so that they can be used, if deemed appropriate, in dissemination campaigns in which the authorship will be specified.
ORGANIZATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE BASES
Participation in the competition implies acceptance of these rules, as well as the criteria of the organisation in the resolution of any issue not provided for in the rules.
