On the 9th of May, our Foundation joins in the marking and celebrating Europe Day. It marks the anniversary of the historic ‘Schuman Declaration’ in 1950, which laid out his idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe. As in previous years, our Foundation will hold its celebrations and offer a central hub for information about Europe Day celebrations that will be held from 5 – 12 May 2024 across Europe.

Europe is where we share our lives, build experiences and imagine our futures. Through cultural events, public debates, and exhibitions, Europeans learn about the history and shared values across our continent and can converse about its future. These help grow a stronger European community with a shared commitment to our future and that of generations to come.#AnyoneCanEuropeDay

The European Cultural Foundation will host a small closed event in Amsterdam to celebrate Europe Day with members of its team, some of its partner organisations, and friends. Because 9 May 2024 will this year be a public holiday, we will hold our event in the late afternoon into the evening on 8 May 2024, ending with the Amsterdam leg of De Kiesmannen‘s tour at Paradiso in Amsterdam.

De Kiesmannen will tour the Netherlands with a team of presenters to mobilize young people for the voting booth. During a dazzling Europe show, they will get you ready for the voting booth within 1.5 hours: how does the EU work? What do parties want to do with Europe? And how do they view the farmers’ protests, new migration deals and the creation of a European army? Brace yourself for an evening full of humour, content and music.
